Feb. 19th

Crazy day today:

Dropped Paxton off at groomers at 7:30.

Stopped by E. Thompsons to pick up some veggies.

Stopped at Walmart to get more groceries.

Arrived home to a message about going to Short Pump Mall.

Called Groomer: "You can pick Paxton up in 15 minutes, I'm working on him now".

Took a shower.

Drove back into town to get Paxton.

Took dog for potty break and then headed off to the mall.

Went to Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel.

Had a yummy fish sandwich and onion rings for lunch at Red Robin.

Home to take dog for a walk.

Headed out at 4:00 to get my car washed.

Home to make dinner and "rest" for the evening.

So glad to be feeling more like my "normal" self.

Three weeks and one day

Well I had to get "stuck with a needle" again today, but just for a short period. I went to have the obligatory PET Scan following chemo. I arrived at 8:30, checked in and paid a large check (because now we have a deductible).

Once I was called ,I went outside to the mobile unit. (When I received the confirmation call they told me to dress warmly). I understand now. It was COLD in there. First they had to test my blood sugar which was 96, YEAH!!!!. They then put in an I.V. needle and injected radioactive sugar water (basically) and then flushed it with a saline solution.) I then had to sit and basically not move for 45 minutes. I couldn't even read a book. I was then moved inside to sit for another 15 minutes. The scan lasted about 1/2 hour with me moving through the "donut" a bit at a time. I thought I would have claustrophobic issues but that was not the case. It was a non-event, as far as having the test done. I was VERY HAPPY to get back to the car and BLAST the heat.

Came home and ate a bowl of cereal since I'd had nothing to eat since the "lovely" fish dinner I had last night.

Will get the results of the scan next Friday when I got to see my friendly oncologist.

Didn't do much of anything important the rest of the day. I'm really close to finishing the sweater for the Olympic project. I was running out of yarn so I had to run down to the shop to buy another skein. I then came home and knitted some and read some. Also had to take a 15 minute power nap as I tried again to stay up and watch the Olympics and was up this morning at 6:00.

1st in 4

Meant to post this yesterday but went to dinner with Kathy last night and then came home to the Olympics. Went to the Bonefish Grill which is normally really good but I was not impressed last night. My fish came out cold so I sent it back. They came back with my plate of veggies so I would have something to eat while Kathy ate. About 5 minutes later they brought my fish, which was just warm. UGH!! Kathy said her special was great. I think it will be awhile before I go back there.

Anyway, yesterday was the 1st third Wednesday in 4 months that I didn't have to go sit for 5-7 hours with chemicals pumping into my arm. How great was that!!! I decided to go out shopping but I didn't come home with anything. Didn't see anything that I couldn't live without. I did go to lunch at Chipotle and had a great salad and enjoyed spending time at Barnes & Noble. Spent all morning out so I didn't do much exciting in the afternoon except take a walk, a short nap, and knitted.

The Olympics being on SO LATE is killing my sleeping schedule. Monday night I made it to midnight but the last 2 nights it was 11:00 and I was out. It is a bit disappointing to me that they leave all of the good athletes until the end. I refuse to DVR the olympics for some reason.

Have a great day!!!

Happy Valentines Day

Just a few updates:

Snow: We still have it. We will PROBABLY still have it in June! The piles just keep getting higher and higher. We are supposed to have a wintery mix tomorrow. UGH!

Weekend: We went to a neighborhood brunch social yesterday morning. OH MY. So much good food. I made a baked french toast that I've never made before. Must say it was pretty awesome. Brought home 1/2 of the pan so we had it for breakfast this morning and then Steve proceeded to eat all of the crumbly topping off of the top before I threw the rest away. I normally have this real aversion to throwing food away but this had so many "bad" but good tasting things in it that I didn't want to have it around. Today we went to lunch with some friends. The restaurant gave us ladies a red rose and also free dessert with a piece of chocolate. It was very nice.

Olympic Knitting Project: My bff Kathy convinced me to participate in a knitting project during the Olympics. I chose to do a sweater so IF I get it finished by the time the Olympics are over I will get a 20% of coupon for a future purchase. I don't think I'm going to have a project because the sweater I picked seems to be going pretty quickly. We had a kick off "party" the other evening with some great cookies and cider.

Olympic TV watching: I'm glued to the TV watching the olympics. Steve is somewhere else doing something else. Probably won't see much of him during the next 2 weeks. The olympics or any other sporting event, is just not his thing.

That's pretty much it for now. Check in with you/me later in the week.
